LIV Golf announced today that Smash GC will officially rebrand as OKGC, establishing Oklahoma as the team’s home market and marking the first time a LIV Golf franchise is directly aligned with a U.S. state. The newly named OKGC will make its competitive debut at Maaden LIV Golf Virginia later in the 2026 season, bringing its Oklahoma identity to the nation’s capital and beyond. The move represents a significant evolution in LIV Golf’s team strategy, aimed at creating stronger, more authentic connections with fans, partners, and local communities while maintaining the league’s global competitive structure.
The rebrand is led by Oklahoma native and team captain Talor Gooch, the 2023 LIV Golf Individual Champion and Oklahoma State University alum. Gooch’s deep roots in the state provide a genuine foundation for the new identity. “This is incredibly meaningful to me. Oklahoma is where I grew up and where I learned how to compete,” said Gooch. “To now represent this state through OKGC and bring that identity with us around the world is something I'm really proud of. We're building a team that people can connect with, one that reflects the pride, resilience, and mindset of Oklahoma everywhere we go.”
At the heart of the OKGC brand is a powerful visual identity rooted in Oklahoma symbolism. A bison anchors the mark, representing grit, resilience, and strength. The number 46 pays tribute to Oklahoma as the 46th state admitted to the Union, while a star nods to the American heartland and the legacy of forward momentum. The overall ethos celebrates the values that define the state: hard work, determination, and a strong sense of belonging. The rebrand was developed in partnership with Rare Design, LIV Golf’s agency of record for recent team identities including Majesticks GC, Korean GC, and Southern Guards GC.
Katie O'Reilly, EVP and Head of Team Business and Operations at LIV Golf, described the rebrand as an important milestone. “This is an important step in the continued evolution of our team model, and a milestone moment as we establish our first team aligned with a U.S. market,” O'Reilly said. “We’ve always believed in the power of team identity, and we're now seeing our teams develop stronger, more authentic connections across the globe. Oklahoma gives us an incredibly strong foundation, having been a market we’ve had success in before (LIV Golf Tulsa 2023), and with Talor Gooch leading the team, there is an authentic connection to the market.”
The launch includes immediate commercial partnerships with NOBULL and EdgeConnex as pillar partners, signaling strong early interest in the regionally aligned model. OKGC will roll out new uniforms, fan-first merchandise, content, and marketing activations throughout the remainder of the 2026 season, all reflecting Oklahoma’s spirit of resilience and pride.
By anchoring a team in Oklahoma, LIV Golf is opening new doors for regional and global partnerships, fan engagement, merchandise, and player development while continuing to grow the league’s international footprint. The move underscores the league’s belief that localized identities can deepen connections without compromising the global competitive structure that defines LIV Golf. With Gooch at the helm and a clear cultural foundation, OKGC is poised to become a compelling new chapter in the league’s team evolution.
