As the wait begins for LIV Golf 2026, we take a look back to 2025 and ahead to next season by putting into focus the 24 golfers who escaped relegation but sit in the Open Zone. And then predict whether their current team will offer a contract or if another option is more likely for 2026.

In LIV Golf, the Open Zone is the section of the season-long individual standings for players ranked 25th through 48th. Players in this zone can remain in the league for the following season, but their current team is not obligated to offer them a new contract if their existing deal has expired. This means players in the Open Zone risk becoming free agents and can be signed by other teams or potentially lose their spot in the league if they are not re-signed.

Hot Start, Icy Finish

Peter Uihlein ended the year with 23.11 points after collecting 13.78 points over the first three events of 2025. To say it was a disappointing finish would be minimizing it. Uihlein was blazing hot, all the way up to Championship Sunday in Hong Kong, and then the wheels went flat.

Over the next 8 events, Peter earned only 1 point, finishing outside of the Top 30 in five of those competitions. He did score nicely in Chicago, but that appeared to be an outlier down the stretch.

Bombs and Putts

LIV Golf statistics prove Uihlein remained LONG off the tee as the 5th longest in the league, averaging 324.6 yards. Although not many of those drives found the fairway. He was 54th in Fairway Hit %, playing from the short grass just 40.89% of the time.

His putter was excelling in 2025. Peter was the 5th best in Putting Average. That helped him end the campaign in the Top 24 in birdies despite the poor accuracy off the tee.

Put It Together in 2026

Uihlein is 36 and has won outside of the league, including on the International Series. He's a good enough golfer to keep his spot on most teams in this league, and definitely for Range Goats GC. We will be pulling for Peter in 2026 to put it all together. He is a lock to wear the pink next season.
