The LIV Golf League is set to make history with its inaugural visit to Indiana and its first appearance on a Pete Dye-designed course at The Club at Chatham Hills for the LIV Golf Indianapolis event, taking place August 15-17, 2025. As the final regular-season tournament of the 2025 season, this high-stakes showdown will crown the season-long Individual Champion, finalize team seedings for the Michigan Team Championship, and determine the fate of players in the Lock and Drop Zones. With intense battles across individual and team competitions, this weekend promises electrifying golf action.

The Race for the Individual Championship

All eyes are on Torque GC captain Joaquin Niemann and Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm, the only two players in contention for the coveted Individual Championship title. Niemann enters with a 12.27-point lead over Rahm, the defending champion who outdueled him last year. According to LIV Golf’s data analysts, Niemann holds a 58.7% chance of clinching the title, controlling his own destiny. Rahm, however, must finish 7th or better to have a shot at overtaking Niemann and securing back-to-back titles. Both players are guaranteed to leave it all on the course, ensuring a dramatic finish.

The battle for third place in the Individual Championship is equally compelling. Bryson DeChambeau of Crushers GC leads with a commanding 96.2% chance of securing the final bonus-paying position, which would mark his best season-long finish in LIV Golf. Trailing him are Dean Burmester (Stinger GC), Talor Gooch (Smash GC), and Patrick Reed (4Aces GC), all vying for a podium spot.

Burmester’s Momentum and Stinger GC’s Breakthrough

Fresh off a thrilling three-man playoff victory in Chicago against Rahm and Fireballs GC’s rising star Josele Ballester, Dean Burmester enters Indianapolis with momentum. His win marked him as the ninth LIV Golf player to claim multiple individual titles. Burmester’s all-South African Stinger GC team also celebrated a playoff victory over Niemann’s Torque GC in Chicago, ending a 31-tournament drought. This sweep was the 16th time in LIV Golf history that a team and one of its players won both trophies at the same event, a feat Stinger GC first achieved at the inaugural LIV Golf London in 2022.

Emerging Talent Shines

The youth movement in LIV Golf continues to impress. Josele Ballester, a 21-year-old Fireballs GC star, secured a T2 finish in Chicago, marking the second consecutive event where a 21-year-old has reached the podium. Caleb Surratt of Legion XIII, the league’s youngest player, finished third at LIV Golf UK by JCB, signaling a bright future for the next generation of golf talent.

Lock Zone and Relegation Battles

LIV Golf Indianapolis will also finalize the Lock Zone, securing full-time spots for the top 24 players in the 2026 season. Seventeen players are already locked in, with four others holding over an 86% chance of retaining their positions. However, players like Phil Mickelson (22nd, HyFlyers GC), Anirban Lahiri (23rd, Crushers GC), and Charles Howell III (24th, Crushers GC) are vulnerable. Those just outside the top 24, including Richard Bland (Cleeks GC), Cameron Tringale (HyFlyers GC), and Jinichiro Kozuma (Iron Heads GC), are fighting to climb into the Lock Zone.

On the other end, the Drop Zone (49th or worse) looms for several players. All three Majesticks GC co-captains—Lee Westwood (47th), Henrik Stenson (48th), and Ian Poulter (52nd)—face the threat of relegation, with Poulter holding just a 6.4% chance of staying in the league. Others at risk include Mito Pereira (49th, Torque GC), Andy Ogletree (50th, HyFlyers GC), Yubin Jang (53rd, Iron Heads GC), Frederik Kjettrup (T55, Cleeks GC), and wild card Anthony Kim (T55).

Team Championship Seedings

The tournament will also lock in seedings for the Michigan Team Championship. Legion XIII has already clinched the top seed, while Crushers GC and Fireballs GC are in a tight race for second. Torque GC aims to hold onto fourth place against a surging 4Aces GC, with Ripper GC and Stinger GC still in contention. Higher seeds will gain the strategic advantage of selecting their quarterfinal opponents, adding another layer of intrigue.
