Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton of Legion XIII delivered strong performances in the third round of LIV Golf Mexico City, positioning their team for a potential podium sweep on Sunday. Rahm shot a solid round to stay near the top of the leaderboard, while Hatton posted a 5-under 66 that moved him into strong contention. The duo will play together in the final group on Sunday, marking the first time they have faced off in the final pairing of a LIV Golf event. “I can imagine we're going to be speaking a little bit less than we do normally just because of the situation we're going to be in,” Rahm said. “That's it. That's just a natural thing. Down the stretch, no matter who we're playing with, usually the conversations are very limited.”

Rahm reflected on his ball-striking improvements throughout the week, noting better iron play on a more difficult day. “Irons especially. It was quite a bit better than it was the first few days,” he said. He acknowledged a few wayward tee shots but expressed optimism for Sunday, emphasizing the need to clean up his game under pressure. “I'm feeling great. I'm feeling I can convert this coming round,” Rahm added. He also praised the Legion XIII team dynamic, hoping for a clean podium sweep that would include teammate Tom McKibbin. “It would be amazing to have a podium. But even then, there's a lot of players within close distance that are probably going to come out firing tomorrow,” he noted.

Tyrrell Hatton described his round as one where he gave himself plenty of birdie opportunities on softer morning greens. “I made the most of the greens being a little bit softer this morning,” Hatton said. “I gave myself lots of opportunities. I would have liked to have seen more putts go in.” He remains confident heading into the final round, viewing the final group pairing with Rahm as a straightforward battle between competitors. “We'll both go out there and try our best, and we're both trying to win a golf tournament,” Hatton stated. He also reflected on his recent strong performances the week after majors, though he could not pinpoint an exact reason for the pattern.

Both players acknowledged the unique challenge of the final round at a course that rewards precision and can change quickly. Rahm noted the difficulty of the layout when wind and firmness increase, while Hatton emphasized the need to stay committed and hit quality shots. The Legion XIII captain expressed pride in how young teammates Tom McKibbin and Caleb Surratt have handled travel disruptions during the season, calling their composure impressive given their age and the circumstances.

The prospect of a duo of Legion stars in the final group adds extra excitement to Sunday’s finale. Rahm and Hatton both expect a competitive yet respectful battle, with limited conversation as the pressure mounts. Their strong positioning through 54 holes has Legion XIII well-placed for a potential team victory, provided they can maintain their form on the final day. With multiple players still within striking distance, the final round at Mexico City promises high drama as the league’s sixth event of 2026 reaches its climax.
