Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm fired a brilliant bogey-free 9-under 63 in the second round of LIV Golf Adelaide, vaulting him into the outright lead over Bryson DeChambeau, Anthony Kim, and others. Reflecting on his performance, Rahm credited exceptional putting as the standout element of the day. “I putted extremely well today. Made a lot of feet of putts. I can’t remember the last time I made this many,” he said. “The ones that didn’t go in looked like they were going to go in. It was a fantastic day on the greens.” With less wind and firmer fairways making the course more playable, Rahm capitalized with strong tee shots and precise iron play, though he acknowledged a few wayward shots that still produced favorable outcomes.

Rahm attributed his strong form to an unusually dedicated off-season, describing it as the first of its kind and one that allowed significant improvements. “It’s the first time I’ve had an off-season like that, so I was able to do certain things that I haven’t done in the past,” he noted. “I think so. I’m playing really well, feeling confident.” He emphasized patience over the 72-hole format, recognizing that only 36 holes are complete. “We have 72 holes, we’re only 36 in. So there’s a lot of golf to come,” Rahm said. “Hopefully I can keep making smart choices and hopefully not give myself reasons to have to get lucky.”
The Spaniard also praised the invaluable partnership with longtime caddie Adam Hayes, highlighting their honest relationship and mutual confidence after nearly a decade together. “We have a really very honest relationship… He pretty much knows what I’m thinking at any point,” Rahm said. “He’s very good at making the right decisions and backing me off when he needs to. It’s instrumental to have somebody like him.” As conditions are expected to intensify with wind and a lively Saturday crowd, Rahm expressed excitement for the atmosphere at this fan-favorite event. “It’s always fun to play in front of this crowd… It’s going to be a really fun atmosphere,” he said, adding that Adelaide remains one of the most anticipated stops on the LIV schedule.
