Jon Rahm delivered a commanding final-round performance to win LIV Golf Mexico City 2026 by six shots, capping a week in which he steadily built momentum and capitalized on strong iron play and short-game touch. Rahm described the victory with a mix of disbelief and satisfaction, especially after earlier struggles at the venue. “I don't quite know. I think a little bit of it is disbelief,” Rahm said. “I've performed poorly down the stretch on this course having a chance to win before, so it's almost like I don't let myself believe it. If you would have told me last week on Thursday afternoon that I'd be winning by a six-shot margin this week, I would not have believed you because of how bad I played. Hell of an effort, and just what a Sunday.”

The Legion XIII captain highlighted the importance of key moments, including a critical stretch around holes 7 through 10 where he avoided bigger trouble and maintained control. “Probably thinking what a lot of people were thinking; this was a bad mistake for my second and third shots,” he recalled of an earlier error. “Then especially after Bryson hit his shot on 14, assuming he's going to make that birdie… I basically had to run the tables at that point to have any hopes, which I did a good job.” Rahm credited his short game for keeping him in contention when ball-striking wasn’t perfect, noting several up-and-downs that prevented larger scores.
Rahm also spoke about the emotional and mental side of the week, acknowledging the challenge of converting strong play into victories after recent runner-up finishes. “You have to keep putting yourself in contention and giving yourself chances,” he said. “As long as I'm doing that, I'm playing good golf… it'll come.” He expressed particular satisfaction with how the week unfolded at Chapultepec, a venue he now holds dear after previous strong showings. “It's a wonderful golf course. It's a wonderful city,” Rahm added, noting he is “kicking himself for never coming” before joining LIV and hopes the event stays on the schedule for years to come.
The Spaniard reflected on the broader context of his season, viewing the win as a relief after a strong but winless stretch earlier in the year. “After having won once, losing another playoff with Bryson, and having played so well this year, I had a little bit of that thorn… of whether I could win more than once,” Rahm explained in Spanish. “Coming back this week and giving myself the chance, and playing as well as I did today, yes, it was a relief.” He emphasized the joy of winning in Mexico, a country he considers a second home, and appreciated the warm support from the local crowd throughout the week.
Rahm also addressed the team success, noting Legion XIII’s dominant showing even when not all members fired on all cylinders. “It says a lot when we can get a win, when I can say that three of the guys didn't really play at the level they can play,” he said. “I'm fortunate to have these teammates. They're unbelievable. Hopefully only better to come.”
Looking ahead, Rahm remains focused on continued improvement and consistency. “Obviously this week I did a lot of things very well,” he said in Spanish. “But out of the six or seven tournaments I’ve played this year, six have been very good. And one has been very bad. And that a major was so bad worries me.” He hopes the Mexico City victory provides freedom and confidence for the rest of the season while continuing to chase the year-long individual title.
The victory marks Rahm’s fourth LIV Golf win and further cements his status as one of the league’s most consistent performers. With Legion XIII also in strong team position, the week in Mexico City delivered both individual brilliance and team depth, setting a high bar as the 2026 season continues. Rahm’s ability to convert a strong week into a decisive win underscores his growing confidence in his game and his relentless drive to perform at the highest level.
