Anthony Kim made an impressive start in his first official round as a full member of 4Aces GC, carding a 5-under 67 in Round 1 of LIV Golf Adelaide. The performance placed him T3 individually alongside team captain Dustin Johnson, marking a confident beginning after earning his spot back through LIV Golf Promotions last month and appearing as a Wild Card in Riyadh the previous week. “I hit the ball fairly well,” Kim said. “I wish I made a few more putts, but missed some short ones out there today, but I can get better, so just continue to get better and just keep working.”

Reflecting on his transition to a team environment, Kim expressed satisfaction with his new surroundings after opting out of remaining a Wild Card. “I’m just one day in, but obviously I wouldn’t have accepted to be on the team if I didn’t like all three of the guys,” he noted. “I’ve gotten to play with Thomas now quite a bit, and just being around guys that I want to hang out with off the golf course is the reason I chose to be on a team… Honored to be a part of the team, and I think as I get better, the team will have more chances to win.” He also highlighted the added enjoyment of being surrounded by teammates he genuinely likes, while emphasizing that his primary support remains his wife and daughter.
Despite tricky conditions with shifting winds, Kim praised his caddie’s guidance and maintained focus on execution. “It was definitely tricky. Sometimes the wind switches a little bit,” he said. “You have to keep an eye on it, but my caddie did a good job, and I just hit it where he tells me, and if I do a good job, we’re going to have lots of chances for birdie.” Describing the round as solid ball-striking with room for improvement on the greens, Kim acknowledged it as one of his better recent performances, though he remains driven to string together four strong rounds.
Looking ahead, Kim reiterated his consistent goals since joining LIV Golf: incremental daily improvement, sobriety, family time, and giving his best effort. “My goals are the same as they were when I first joined LIV,” he said. “It’s to get 1 percent better every day, stay sober, enjoy time with my family, and whatever happens happens because all I can do is try my best.” He credited his maturity and experience for a more patient approach on the course, contrasting it with his younger self and expressing contentment with his current stage in life and career.
With a strong opening round under his belt, Kim appears poised to contribute meaningfully to 4Aces GC while continuing his personal resurgence in the LIV Golf League.
