LIV Golf today announced a significant roster move as two-time Olympian Abraham Ancer departs Fireballs GC to join Torque GC for the 2026 season. The Mexico native and LIV Golf veteran will strengthen Torque GC’s position as the premier all-Latin American team in the league, adding proven leadership, consistency, and global pedigree to the roster.

Ancer, a top-12 finisher in the individual standings in both 2024 and 2025, spent the last four seasons with Fireballs GC, where he played a pivotal role in building team culture and achieving on-course success. His standout moment came at LIV Golf Hong Kong in 2024, when he won his first individual LIV title after prevailing in a dramatic three-man playoff against Cameron Smith and Paul Casey.
“I would like to thank Fireballs GC players, caddies, and staff for the last four years and for helping me grow as a person and a player,” Ancer said. “I will be forever grateful for that stage of my career and I wish them all nothing but the best in 2026 and beyond. Joining Torque GC is an exciting next step, both personally and professionally. Competing as part of an all-Latin team alongside close friends, whom I admire on and off the golf course, adds a layer of connection and purpose that I can’t wait to be a part of.”
Torque GC Team Captain Joaquín Niemann welcomed Ancer as a natural fit for the team’s identity and ambitions.
“Abraham is a proven winner and a fierce competitor, and we’re proud to welcome him to Torque GC,” Niemann said. “As a fully Latin American team, we play with shared pride, duty, and purpose, and Abraham embodies that. His addition makes us stronger and deepens the bond that drives everything we do.”
Ancer’s move reinforces Torque GC’s role as the standard-bearer for Latin American golf. The team now features four players who finished the 2025 season in the top 12 of the individual standings: Niemann (2nd), Sebastian Muñoz (4th), Carlos Ortiz (8th), and Ancer. This powerful lineup combines elite talent with deep regional pride, positioning Torque GC as a formidable contender across the 2026 schedule.
Fireballs GC Team Captain Sergio Garcia reflected on Ancer’s lasting impact.
“Abraham has been a cornerstone of Fireballs GC from day one,” Garcia said. “He has been integral in building up the culture of this team, setting the standard for how we prepare, how we compete, and how we represent our club. His impact here goes far beyond the scorecard, and that kind of influence stays with you long after someone moves on.”
A LIV Golf mainstay since 2022, Ancer has delivered consistent excellence throughout his tenure. He finished his debut season in the top 20, won wire-to-wire at the 2023 PIF Saudi International, and secured multiple podiums and team victories. In 2025, he ranked among the league’s most accurate drivers, posted three top-10 finishes, and helped Fireballs GC to six team podiums—including three consecutive wins early in the season.
Ancer’s broader career is defined by perseverance and performance on the world stage. Since turning professional in 2013, he has claimed victories at the 2015 Nova Scotia Open and 2018 Australian Open, represented Mexico at the World Cup of Golf, and earned standout performances at the 2019 Presidents Cup (3.5 points) and the 2020 Masters (sharing the 36-hole lead). His 2021 campaign included a runner-up at the Wells Fargo Championship, a top-10 at the PGA Championship, and a signature win at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Ancer also represented Mexico at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics and won gold at the 2023 Pan American Games.
Ancer will make his Torque GC debut at the 2026 season opener, LIV Golf Riyadh presented by ROSHN Group, February 4–7. With his arrival, Torque GC enters the new season as a unified, culturally driven powerhouse with the talent and ambition to challenge for titles at every stop on the global schedule.
